The Londoners start their jouney in the competition playing against Birmingham City on Saturday (12:30, local time) without almost resting after achieving a draw on Wednesday on the 21st day of the Premier League.

The oldest soccer tournament in the world starts for England's top teams and ends a marathon of matches in which West Ham will have played five games in 15 days. The FA Cup begins for the Hammers that will face an historic team, Birmingham City.
The team led by Gary Monk is the Second division and is fighting to come back to Premier League. Currently, the Blues are in the eighth position, with a streak of five games without losing that they hope to prolong in this tournament, where they were runners-up in 1956, when they lost the final against Manchester City.
It is probable that Manuel Pellegrini will do several changes in order to reduce the load of minutes. Lucas Pérez, who played 44 minutes in the last league game, was called by the Chilean coach. The Galician striker was a starter in the other tournamente, the Carabao Cup.
West Ham were eliminated in the fourth round of the FA Cup last season, after losing against Wigan. This year, the Hammers hope to go further in a tournament they won three times: 1964, 1975 and 1980.
